Use these Microfiber Gloves for hands-on cleaning!
A friend of mine is an orthopedic surgeon and a genuine
car nut. I don't mean a superficial enthusiast who buys a Ferrari because he can
afford it. I mean the kind of guy that drives a 28 year old Porsche and won't
let anyone touch it. He changes the oil, tunes it, synchronizes the carburetors
and has single handedly replaced the exhaust system and heat exchangers! I
recently found him on one of his rare days off, wearing gloves, washing his car.
He would spray one of the Porsche's wheels with cleaner, dip his hand in a
bucket of soapy water and clean the wheel using his fingers to get into all the
small openings and even around the air valve stem! At first I thought he was
wearing some kind of surgical glove but it turned out to be a glove made of
micro fiber! He threw me one and I tried it myself. There's no right or left and
one size fits all.
What a breeze! No brush. No sponge. Just good old
fashioned hand washing! I could easily get into all the wheel's slot openings
and, with a little massaging, remove baked on road grime and brake dust. Being
micro fiber, there's no chance of scratching the wheel's clear coat finish.
I tracked down the good doctor's glove supplier and
here they are. These Microfiber Gloves are washable and reusable. The
doctor tells me a pair lasts him about a year before he discards them.
| Used wet,
they allow you to clean any surface you can reach with your hand. Dry, they make
a great dusting glove. I keep one in my office for cleaning computer screens and
my Italian desk lamp which has always been a challenge to dust.
Bikers:
These are great for hands-on cleaning of spoke wheels and engine nooks and
crannies. |
