Our best "Hi-Tec"
Digital Tire Pressure Gauge for motorcycles.
Product review by Terry Freiberg
The last thing you want to
worry about while leaning into a tight curve is whether your bike's tires are
properly inflated! Not that I'm anywhere near Boy Racer but it does cross my
mind when I realize just how much contact patch is actually on the road. After
all, the only thing that stands between me
and the asphalt is that tiny patch of rubber!
Many new riders were never
told about how small changes in tire pressure can make big changes in handling,
braking and traction. And most riders don't realize that ALL TIRES LOOSE AIR
OVER TIME. Unlike automobile tires which may loose a pound or two over several
months, motorcycle tires can loose one or two PSI in a week or less!
A good habit to get into is to
check your bike's tire pressure before each and every ride. Which brings me to
this ROADGEAR Digital, Talking, Tire Pressure Gauge. Motorcycle tires are
harder to check than car tires because of the orientation of the tire valve and
the clearance between the spokes and/or brake discs. This ROADGEAR gauge was
designed specifically for motorcycles. It has a 90 degree valve that fits in the
tightest spots and a Hi-Grip, rubberized handle. This handle is not only
comfortable, it makes it much easier to press down on a motorcycle tire's valve.
| The ROADGEAR Gauge reads
from 5.0 to 99.5 PSI in 0.5 PSI increments. ROADGEAR claims the gauge is
accurate to 1% and that was confirmed by Motorcycle Consumer News which
gave this gauge their "Innovation of the Month" award and by
Motorcycle Cruiser magazine which had it compared to a Dunlop Tire
Pressure Gauge Tester. |

| Tire pressure is
indicated on the LCD screen on the front of the gauge and it states the
reading, in English, over a tiny built-in speaker! A Recall button allows
you to recall the last measurement taken. The gauge is powered by a
replaceable Lithium battery and covered by a 5 year warranty.
My only reservation on
this gauge is that it does not have bleed valve. |
